Dunton Green burglars take rare coins and attack man and son

A father and his young son have been attacked by burglars who stole rare coins worth £30,000 from their home.

The 18th Century coins, along with gold sovereigns, were stolen from a property in Dunton Green, near Sevenoaks, Kent.

The man was struck with a metal pole and his 11-year-old son was slapped across the face in the burglary.

Police have appealed for anyone who has seen the coins being offered for sale to make contact with them.

The man's wife and 20-year-old son were also at home at the time of the robbery, which happened at about 22:55 BST on Tuesday, but were not hurt.

Officers said a silver Audi car seen near junction three of the M25 with men wearing what appeared to be balaclavas inside could be linked to the incident.
