Two men have been detained on the M20 in Kent on suspicion of illegal entry into the UK.

They were spotted on the London-bound carriageway between junctions six and five and transferred into the care of immigration officials, police said.

It follows a report that four men were seen running across the carriageway between junctions 11 and 11a on Sunday.

Police carried out a search of the scene shortly after 06:45 BST but the men were not found.

Motorhome stowaways

On Friday three suspected migrants were found hanging onto the underneath of motorhomes.

One was found on the London-bound carriageway of the M20 between junctions nine and eight, while two others were found under a vehicle at the Dartford River Crossing.

All three were also transferred into the care of immigration officials.

Earlier last week, a man was found in the back of a woman's car in Kent after she had returned from France through the Channel Tunnel, while another was found to have been clinging onto the axle of a motorhome for 100 miles, only leaving the vehicle when it stopped in traffic on the M25 in Surrey.
