Man injured in 'cowardly' attack in Ormskirk

A 62-year-old man was attacked moments after withdrawing money from a cash machine in Lancashire.

Police said the man was pushed to the ground by two men behind the Iceland store on Aughton Street in Ormskirk on Thursday afternoon.

He was taken to Southport Hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises and a graze to the head.

Police have called it a "nasty and cowardly attack" and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Sgt Philip Bowerbank said: "Unfortunately the man has not been able to give us a description of the offenders, other than to describe them as being young men.

"However, I would urge anybody who may have seen two men acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident to come forward."
