A 63-year-old man died when his car struck a trailer on a road in Lancashire.

Leonard Robinson, from Blackpool, was driving a red Vauxhall Corsa on the A583 Kirkham bypass when the crash happened at about 1930 BST on Sunday.

Police said the car crashed into the back of a trailer that had stopped in the nearside westbound lanes after a blowout.

The man died at the scene and the road was closed for four hours afterwards.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is being urged to contact police.

Acting Sgt Adam Lloyd, from the road policing unit, said: "We believe that the driver has not seen the trailer prior to impact as a result of poor visibility from the sun, but a full investigation is under way.

"I would appeal to any witnesses to the collision to contact the police."
