A 20-year-old man has died in a crash between two cars on a Lancashire road.

Daryl John Mundy was in a car on Chain Lane in Staining on Wednesday night when it was in collision with another coming from the opposite direction.

The local man was taken to hospital after the crash, at about 2100 BST, but died from his injuries.

Lancashire Police said a blue Citroen Saxo had collided with a white Vauxhall Vivaro at about 2100 BST. Any witnesses are urged to contact them.

Sgt Pete Beresford, of the Road Policing Unit, said: "I would like to appeal to anybody who might have seen the collision, or a T-registered blue Citroen Saxo travelling through Layton or Staining just before 9pm last night heading towards Mythop Road."
