Police investigating the death of a woman in a suspicious blaze at a care home have been given extra time to question two suspects.

Edith Stuart, 96, suffered severe burns in the fire which broke out on Monday at Cleveleys Park Rest Home, Cleveleys, and died on Tuesday evening.

A woman, 27, and a 17-year-old girl are being held on suspicion of murder.

Blackpool magistrates granted police until 2000 BST on Friday to question the pair.

The suspects were initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Four residents and two employees were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital after the fire broke out at 1800 BST on Monday.

Det Supt Neil Esseen, leading the investigation, said an examination of the scene in Stockdove Way had revealed the fire was deliberately started.
