Police investigating the death of an 89-year-old man in Blackburn have arrested three people.

Albert Fielding was found dead by officers called to Limefield Court, off Preston New Road, at about 1130 BST.

Two men, aged 39 and 46, and a woman aged 45, all from Blackburn, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are due to be questioned later.

Lancashire police are appealing to anyone who saw Mr Fielding in the past few days to contact them.

Officers said he was last seen on Thursday and are urging his friends or family to get in touch.

Information 'vital'

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Saturday.

Senior Investigating Officer, Det Supt Neil Hunter, said: "I am keen to speak to any friends or associates that knew Mr Fielding to come forward.

"I am also keen to hear from anyone who has visited his house recently. Their information could be vital as we piece together what happened."

He added: "I would like to reassure the public that we have a team of dedicated officers working on this investigation as we try to establish exactly what happened.

"Understandably this is a very difficult time for Mr Fielding's family and we have dedicated family liaison officers supporting them."
