Man dies in Thornton house fire on New Year's Eve

A man died in a house fire in Lancashire on New Year's Eve, the fire service has confirmed.

Crews were called to a bungalow in Tennyson Avenue, Thornton, at 2140 GMT on Friday.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was found at the front of the house, a fire service spokesman said.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Lancashire Police have started an investigation into the cause of the blaze.

A police spokesman said it was not believed to be suspicious.
