A man who raped a woman in her Lancashire home has been jailed for seven years.

Krystian Rak, 29, from Stansfield Street, Blackburn, attacked the woman, who is in her 50s, after calling at her home in the town last May.

He found guilty after a trial at Preston Crown Court and was sentenced at the same court on Tuesday.

Following the sentencing, Lancashire Police said it was "an extremely serious and violent offence."

Det Insp Mark Winstanley said: "Rak is a dangerous man who attacked this lady in her own home at a time when she was particularly vulnerable."

He added: "Rape is a very serious offence which can have devastating effects on the victim.

"The victim in this case is recovering well and I am pleased that she has had the confidence to come forward and report this incident to the police."
