Van driver cut free after crash on M6 in Lancashire

The driver of a van had to be cut free by firefighters after his vehicle overturned on the M6 in Lancashire.

The Mercedes sprinter van collided with the central reservation of the motorway north of Charnock Richard services just before 1300 GMT.

Police said two lanes of the M6 were closed in both directions, between junctions 27 and 28, after the crash. The lanes were reopened by 1630 GMT.

A force spokesman said motorists were being advised to avoid the area.
