Man remanded over mother's stabbing murder

A 32-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of his mother.
The body of Bernadette Gallagher was found in the lounge of her house on Riverside, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, on Sunday night.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the 51-year-old died from multiple stab wounds.
Her son Kieran Gallagher, of Whitworth Street, Manchester, appeared before Chorley magistrates earlier.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Preston Crown Court on Friday.
