Man in M6 crash arrested in attempted murder inquiry

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an attack on a woman in east Lancashire.

The 27-year-old woman was found at an address on Whalley Road in Clayton-le-Moors at about 0600 BST. Police believe she had been stabbed in the head.

She was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.

The man was arrested at about 0630 BST after he lost control of his car on the M6 motorway close to junction 32.

His vehicle struck the central reservation barrier and he was arrested and taken to the Royal Preston Hospital with minor injuries.

Lancashire police said he will later be questioned by detectives on suspicion of attempted murder and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
