Man charged over Tarleton jewellers raid

A man has been charged after an attempted armed robbery on a Lancashire jewellery shop in which a member of staff was shot.

Three men burst into David Burns Jewellers in Tarleton on 17 March, threatening staff with a ball bearing gun and hammer.

One shot a staff member in the chest and ear before the trio fled.

A man, 45, of Kirkby on Merseyside, has been charged with robbery, producing a class B drug and having a firearm.

He is due to appear before Chorley magistrates later.

A 30 year old from Liverpool who was arrested on suspicion of robbery, has been released on police bail.
