Blackpool bus befriender robs elderly man in Cleveleys

A man who befriended a 90-year-old man on a Lancashire bus and then robbed him in his home is being sought by police.

The victim was helped to a bus stop on Dickson Road, Blackpool, by the man who accompanied him on the number one bus to Beach Avenue in Cleveleys.

The man then walked the pensioner to his home at about 1930 BST on Wednesday and took money from him once inside and fled, police said.

The robber was with his victim from 1730 to 1930 BST.

Police said that the robber had taken advantage of the fact that the elderly man had become "confused and distressed" when he had got off the bus at Cleveleys and did not know where he was.

Det Sgt Alex Myers said: "The offence is particularly nasty due to the offender targeting and befriending a 90-year-old victim."

The offender is described as having a dark complexion, aged in his 40s, of slim build and about 6ft tall.

He spoke with a southern accent.
