Man released in Blackpool child abduction inquiry

A 31-year-old man arrested by police investigating the attempted abduction of a two-year-old girl in Blackpool has been released without charge.

A man slashed a child's trampoline with a knife before he tried to take the girl from the back garden of a house on Erdington Road last Thursday.

The arrested man had been held on suspicion of attempted child abduction.

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to contact them.

The attempted abduction took place at about 1840 BST.

Det Ch Insp Andrea Barrow said: "I am still very keen for anyone who was in the Erdington Road area between 5pm and 7pm who may have seen anything suspicious to contact police.

"The man is described as white, around 5ft 10ins and between 20 and 30 years old.

"He had short brown hair and was wearing a dark T-shirt, black trousers and was possibly on a bike.

"If anyone recognises this description and can recall seeing him in the area then I would ask them to call the police."
