A 23-year-old man from Blackpool has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an assault at a takeaway.

Police believe Ricky Guest-Binns, 44, was punched after intervening in an argument between a man and staff at Chicken Express on Caunce Street.

Paramedics and police officers were called at about 01:00 BST on Saturday and found Mr Guest-Binns unconscious at the Blackpool fast food outlet.

He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, where he later died.

The 23-year-old man was taken into custody and was being questioned by detectives.

Det Supt Andy Murphy, of Lancashire Constabulary, called it a tragic loss of life.

He said: "We believe the victim was a respectable man who was trying to do the right thing and as a result has been assaulted."
