Police investigate Hillcroft nursing home in Slyne, Lancaster

A nursing home in Lancashire is being investigated by police following a complaint about the quality and standard of care.

Police were called to the Hillcroft Nursing Home on Throstle Grove in Slyne-with-Hest near Lancaster after a complaint to Lancashire County Council.

Lancashire Police said the investigation was at an early stage.

A Hillcroft spokesman said: "We are assisting police with the investigation and have no other comment to make."

The council's director of commissioning, Steve Gross, said: "We are working closely with our colleagues in Lancashire Constabulary, the Care Quality Commission and North Lancashire Teaching Primary Care Trust to ensure the concerns are investigated thoroughly.

"In the meantime, our primary concern remains the safety and wellbeing of everyone living at Hillcroft, Slyne.

"We are reviewing the care and support for all of the residents to ensure their needs are being met appropriately."

The nursing home in Slyne remains "open as usual", according to a spokesman from Hillcroft.

There are five privately owned Hillcroft nursing homes in north Lancashire providing care for the elderly.
