Police investigating the attempted murder of a teenager who was stabbed in a "ferocious assault" have released a CCTV image of a possible witness.

The 17-year-old was riding his bike in St Stephens Road, Preston, Lancashire, when he was attacked on 15 June.

Police have now released an image of a man in the Shawes Arms on London Road at about 22:00 BST on the same evening.

Det Insp Paddy O'Neill said: "I must stress that this man is in no way a suspect."

He added: "There is nothing to suggest he was at the scene of the assault or assisted those responsible in any way, but we believe he could help us as a witness."

The teenager sustained a number of wounds during the attack and remains in Royal Preston Hospital.

Two men, aged 33 and 20, and a 16-year-old boy, all from Preston, have been charged with attempted murder and are due to appear at Preston Crown Court on 8 July.
