Racing driver Frank Wrathall in cyclist death crash trial

A British Touring Car driver has gone on trial over the death of a cyclist in a crash in Lancashire.

Frank Wrathall, 26, of Barnacre, was driving a van and towing his racing car when the collision happened at a roundabout in Broughton on 14 May 2012.

Cyclist Paul Fingleton, 47, of Preston, died after suffering head and spinal injuries.

Mr Wrathall denies causing death by dangerous driving at Preston Crown Court.

The court heard he was speaking to his girlfriend on the phone, which he said he was using hands free, at the time.

The trial continues.
