A man has been arrested over an assault on a conductor who stopped a verbally abusive commuter boarding a train.

The conductor stopped the train as it left Blackpool South station after hearing a "loud bang" as it set off at 08:20 GMT on 14 January.

Police said a man ran towards him shouting abuse and saying he would be "late for work", before punching the conductor in the face.

The arrested 27-year-old from Blackpool has been bailed until 29 January.
