Woman killed in motorway collision near Leeds


Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision which happened on the M621 near Leeds.

The Citroen Saxo was travelling along the M621 towards Leeds when it left the carriageway and collided with a tree at about 0645 BST.

The 20-year-old female driver - who was from Leeds - was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries but later died.

The M62 was closed at junction 27 and tailbacks were more than 12 miles long.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the police.
