A road in Leeds has been closed after utility workers uncovered a large hole underneath its surface.

The cavity was found on the northbound carriageway of the A660 Otley Road in Headingley, between the junctions with St Michael's Road and North Lane.

West Yorkshire Police officers were at the scene on Monday afternoon.

Diversions were put in place but the road closure was said to be causing long delays for motorists. It is not known when the road will reopen.
