Three people rescued from fire at flat in Leeds

Three people have been rescued from a fire at a block of flats in the Rothwell area of Leeds.

The fire happened at about 0300 GMT on Sunday at the first-floor flat on the city's Commercial Street.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said three people were rescued from the building.

A spokeswoman said they were checked by paramedics at the scene, but did not require hospital treatment. The service is investigating the cause of the fire.
