York Minster break-in: Two men arrested

Two men have been arrested after jewellery and other property was stolen from the Dean of York's residence at York Minster, police have said.

North Yorkshire Police officers were alerted by the minster police after reports that the Deanery in Minster Yard had been broken into on Monday.

As police arrived, two 39-year-old men ran from the property and were arrested nearby after a short pursuit.

They were found to be in possession of property and jewellery, police said.
