Alcohol-free area introduced in Wakefield

An area of Wakefield has become an alcohol restriction zone after residents raised concerns about anti-social behaviour.

It is hoped the zone in the College Grove area will reduce street drinking, littering and anti-social behaviour.

Police officers and PCSOs are able to stop anyone from drinking or carrying alcohol in public.

The police said while it was not an offence to drink in public, failure to comply could result in an arrest.
