Girl, 9, dies in hospital after being hit by car in Leeds

A nine-year-old girl died and another suffered a broken leg when they were hit by a car in a Leeds suburb.

West Yorkshire Police said the girl was with a 13-year-old when they were struck by a Vauxhall Astra on Leopold Grove in Chapeltown on Tuesday evening.

The nine-year-old was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, but later died.

The occupants of the car, a man and woman, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
