Two West Yorkshire head teachers honoured by Queen

Two head teachers in West Yorkshire have been appointed an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Allison Chin, from Swinnow Primary School, has been honoured for her contribution to education along with Hawa Bibi Laher, the head of Spring Grove Junior School in Mirfield.

Assistant Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police John Parkinson has also been appointed OBE.

Huddersfield man Peter Armitage becomes an MBE for his amateur theatre work.

Jonathan Bielby, the director of music at Wakefield Cathedral, has also been appointed MBE, as has Winifred Marrison, a former research postgraduate administrator and student disability officer at the University of Leeds.
