Police searching for a rapist who attacked a woman in Leeds city centre have released new CCTV images.

A 22-year-old woman was grabbed by a group of men as she turned into Fish Street in the early hours of Monday.

She was then dragged into a doorway and seriously sexually assaulted by at least one of the men.

New CCTV pictures show another woman being approached by two men at the junction of New Briggate and Headrow shortly before the sex attack.

West Yorkshire Police said the new images show a woman being approached near to the Clas Ohlson shop at about 0130 BST by two males who appear to speak to her and possibly say something which offends her.

'Vital information'

Det Supt Paul Taylor, who is leading the inquiry, said: "At this point the woman, who is unconnected to the serious sexual assault, walks off along New Briggate and is followed for a short time by the two men.

"We would like to trace this woman as a matter of urgency because she may have vital information which can help us to identify the males involved in this incident, and I would ask that she contacts us as soon as possible.

"I would also appeal for anyone who has information which can identify the two males to contact police immediately."

He also appealed to any women who were approached by a group of dark-skinned males in Leeds city centre late on Sunday night and in the early hours of Monday to come forward.

The woman who was attacked had been in the HiFi club earlier in the evening and was approached by a group of men making suggestive remarks.
