Girl sexually assaulted on Harehills Road, Leeds

A 14-year-old girl has been seriously sexually assaulted by a middle-aged man in an alleyway close to St James's Hospital in Leeds.

The teenager was waiting for a bus in the Harehills area of the city shortly before 22:00 GMT on Friday.

She was approached by the man who asked her if she wanted a lift.

The girl refused and after persistent questioning her assailant followed her to Ashton Place just off Harehills Road where she was attacked.

The man is described as in his early 40s, about 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a thick coat, dark jeans and dark footwear that might have been workplace safety boots.

He spoke with a local accent.
