Lisa Ambler: Police search railway arches and canal

Police investigating the disappearance of a West Yorkshire woman nine years ago are searching railway arches and a canal after receiving new information.

Lisa Ambler was 34 when she was last seen in Halifax in August 2003.

West Yorkshire Police officers are searching railway arches off Berry Lane, Halifax, while divers are at Salterhebble canal basin.

Det Insp Steve Snow said police continued to seek "vital" information which could lead them to Ms Ambler.

'Explore all opportunities'

Mr Snow said: "It cannot be discounted that after all this time Lisa may well have come to some harm or sadly be dead."

Police would continue to "explore all opportunities" in their efforts to find her, he added.

Ms Ambler, who had two children both now in their 20s, was sleeping rough with her then boyfriend in a tent on Southowram Bank at the time of her disappearance.

Her mother died two years ago not knowing what happened to her daughter.

Anyone with information about Ms Ambler's disappearance is being asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.
