Part of the M62 in West Yorkshire will be completely closed in both directions from Sunday night until early on Monday morning, motorists are being warned.
The stretch of motorway, between junction 26 at Chain Bar and junction 27 at Gildersome, is due to close between 23:00 GMT and 05:00 GMT.
The closure is necessary so a damaged overhead gantry can be urgently repaired, the Highways Agency has said.
A clearly signed diversion will be in place.
David Pilsworth, from the Highways Agency, said "every effort" had been made to keep motorway closures to a minimum during major upgrade work on the M62.
"However, it is vital that we inspect the damaged gantry as a matter of urgency and carry out any necessary repairs," he said.
Road users are being asked to follow the signed diversion routes and allow extra time for their journeys, said Mr Pilsworth.
