West Yorkshire Police hunt for missing Wakefield pensioner

An 89-year-old man who went missing after going to buy his wife a birthday present on his red mobility scooter is being sought by police.

George King, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, was last seen on Friday morning when he left his home in Peacock Avenue.

Police said they were becoming "increasingly concerned" for his welfare.

He is 5ft 8ins (1.72m) tall, of medium build with grey, thinning hair.

He was last seen wearing a white flat cap, a short-sleeved blue check shirt, blue trousers and white trainers,

Police said specialist teams and the force helicopter had been called in to help with the search.
