Police have named two people they want to speak to in connection with the violent murder of a man in a West Yorkshire village.

Anyone who sees Karl Gaskin, 40 or Michael Dear, 38, is urged to contact police on 999.

Detectives want to speak to them about the killing of Sidney Cox, 57, at his home on Middleton Lane, Thorpe, on 24 August.

A 30-year-old man who was being held on suspicion of murder has been bailed.

Mr Dear is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall, of heavy build and with sandy-coloured hair.

Mr Gaskin is described as white, about 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build and with dark brown hair.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Anyone who sees either man should not approach them and contact the police immediately on 999.

"The men are believed to have links across the Yorkshire and Humber region and West Yorkshire Police is liaising with neighbouring forces."
