Drighlington crash leaves woman dead and man hurt

A woman has died and a man seriously injured in a crash near Leeds.

Her black Vauxhall Astra was in collision with a white Peugeot Bipper van on Field Head Lane, Drighlington, at about 23:00 BST on Friday.

Police believe the 28-year-old Astra driver might have "misjudged a bend" shortly beforehand and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 63-year-old Bipper driver was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Det Sgt Carole Greaves, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "Although enquiries are still in their early stages, we believe the Astra might have misjudged a bend which led to it being in collision with the Bipper."

Anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the incident is asked to contact police.
