IPCC probe Harehills Roundhay Road fatal police pursuit

The road was closed and the air ambulance was called to the scene following the crash

The death of a driver during a police pursuit in Leeds is being investigated by the police watchdog.

Tesfa Hughes was being followed by West Yorkshire officers when his VW Golf collided with an Audi A4 on Roundhay Road at about 19:05 BST last Wednesday.

Mr Hughes, 26, died in hospital. The female driver of the other car suffered serious injuries.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has appealed for witnesses to contact them.
