Two released after Leicester gun false alarm

Two men have been released without charge after an unfounded report that a person had been seen with a gun at a block of flats in Leicester.

Firearms officers were called to Charles Street at 2255 BST on Thursday and arrested the men, aged 25 and 30.

No weapon was found and police have since established that the incident was "not as initially reported".

The Leicestershire force said it took such reports seriously but that false call outs wasted police resources.
