Vehicle used in Wigston cash machine raid

A car has been driven into the front of a Leicestershire shop during an attempt to steal a cash machine.

It happened just after midnight on Thursday when a Mitsubishi Pajero crashed into the premises on Leicester Road, Wigston.

Officers said four men ran into the shop and attempted to take the machine but left empty-handed.

Three then fled in another vehicle while the Mitsubishi was driven away and later found abandoned.

The vehicle, which had been stolen from Monmouth Drive in Leicester, was abandoned on Roehampton Drive.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
