Cyclist hurt during hit-and-run in Rothley

A cyclist was injured in a hit-and-run in Leicestershire, prompting a police appeal for witnesses.

The car, which is thought to be a blue Ford Escort, struck the cyclist in the cycle lane on Loughborough Road, in Rothley, at about 1430 BST on Monday.

The vehicle failed to stop and sped off in the direction of Rothley.

The cyclist was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary suffering minor injuries. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
