Visitors to Leicester's Caribbean Carnival have been praised by police for their behaviour.
Officers said early estimates indicated about 80,000 people attended the procession and entertainment in Victoria Park during the evening.
They said the day had passed without serious incident and no crimes had so far been reported.
The event, which was celebrating its 25th anniversary, has also been hailed by organisers as a success.
Supt Phil Whiteley said: "The history of this event has always been one of celebration.
"It was pleasing to see such large numbers in attendance this year.
"I am pleased to say that everyone was very good natured and the event passed off without incident and with no crimes being reported."
