Environment unit for Leicestershire fire service

Leicestershire's fire service has joined forces with the Environment Agency to provide additional protection during incidents.

A new Environmental Protection Unit will be based at Loughborough station which will be deployed to all incidents that pose a risk to the environment.

It will provide specialist equipment to contain chemical spillages that may do harm to the environment and wildlife.

Fifty specialist fire officers have been trained to use the equipment.
