Four people are in hospital, two of them seriously injured, following a head-on car crash in Leicestershire.
The crash happened on the A607 Leicester Road, near Melton Mowbray, at about 2225 BST on Sunday. It led to the road being closed for about 10 hours.
A Peugeot 106 and Volkswagen Corrada were travelling in opposite directions when the crash happened.
Both drivers suffered serious injuries with the condition of the Peugeot driver described as life threatening.
The condition of the Volkswagen driver is described as serious but stable while the two passengers in the Peugeot suffered minor injuries.
All were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Det Con Samm Emmett, of Leicestershire Police, said: "The Peugeot was travelling towards Melton and the Volkswagen was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision happened.
"We would like anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the cars prior to the incident to call us and help us with our inquiries."
