A woodland in Leicestershire has been renamed in honour of one of its former MPs.

David Taylor, who was the Labour MP for North West Leicestershire, died last Boxing Day.

Coronet Copse, near his home village of Heather, will now be known as David Taylor Wood.

The National Forest and Forestry Commission honoured the late MP on the weekend which would have marked his 64th birthday.

Mr Taylor had been walking with his family in the grounds of Calke Abbey, Derbyshire, when he suffered a heart attack.
