Fire crews fight derelict school fire in Leicester
A derelict building on the site of a Leicester college has been damaged by fire, officials said.
Four fire crews were called to New College just off New Parks Way in Leicester just before 0800 BST.
College principal Jane Brown said the firefighters were "fantastic" and responded quickly to reports that there was a fire.
The school, which has 900 pupils aged between 11 and 15 years old, will remain open as usual, Ms Brown said.
The college is located on the site of the former school of New Parks Community College and the former school of Alderman Newton School.
