Cows hold up motorway commuters in Leicestershire

Commuters in Leicestershire were delayed on their journeys by several cows near the M69 motorway.

Leicestershire Police said a call was received at about 0715 BST on Thursday reporting cows on the grassy verge by the hard shoulder near junction two.

Officers helped a farmer herd the cows back into their field, near Burbage, and make the road safe.

Drivers were delayed for about an hour as tailbacks built up. The cows were back in the field by 0830 BST.
