Crews are damping down after more than 60 firefighters tackled a blaze at a pub in Melton Mowbray town centre.

They arrived at the the Kettleby Cross, in Wilton Road, at about 2200 BST on Wednesday to find the first floor and roof on fire.

Firefighters pumped water from the nearby River Eye to put out the flames.

Nobody was injured and the cause of the fire is still unknown. A fire investigation officer is due to visit the scene later.

A fire service spokesman said they were now liaising with various agencies including a building inspector.
