Published

A three-storey block of flats in Leicestershire have been badly damaged in a fire.

Fire crews spent two hours fighting the blaze in the roof of the building on Smisby Road in Ashby-de-la-Zouch early on Thursday morning.

No-one was injured in the fire, a Leicestershire Fire and Rescue spokesman said.

Crews used an aerial ladder from Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire and water from a nearby lake to fight the blaze.

Five fire engines and more than 30 firefighters were involved in tackling the fire.
