More than 700 people dressed as Santa Claus have run in a charity fun run in a Leicestershire village.

The second annual Lutterworth Santa Fun Run is raising money for several charities including Rainbows Hospice, Age Concern and Loros Hospice.

Organisers said they raised £15,000 from the 6km (3.7 mile) run in 2009.

Runners paid a £10 entry fee and were allowed to keep their Santa Claus outfit including a fake white beard and red hat and suit.

Organiser John Turner said: "People have enjoyed the event and it is the beginning of Christmas for us."
