Refurbishment for Leicester bike park

A bike park in Leicester city centre is set to get a £150,000 refurbishment.

The package of improvements will take place at the Bike Park at Leicester Town Hall.

The work will provide secure city centre bike parking, bike hire and maintenance services to cyclists.

Leicester City Council is taking over management of the scheme on 4 January from previous operators Groundwork Leicester and Leicestershire.

The facility will remain open throughout the work.

Leicester City Council cycling co-ordinator, Andy Salkeld, said: "We want it to be a central hub for all things cycling and especially for new and family cyclists."

He said there would be free bike parking during the refurbishment.
