Restriction on takeaways in north west Leicestershire

  • Published

Restrictions are being implemented on the number of hot food takeaway outlets in north-west Leicestershire.

The district council move follows a campaign by Ashby-de-la-Zouch residents concerned that food outlets were taking over the high street.

The new rules apply to Ashby, Castle Donington, Ibstock, Measham and Kegworth town centres.

It will mean only about 10% of shops there can operate as fast food outlets.

Campaigners had complained that too many takeaways could actually put shoppers off and create rubbish local traders had to clear up.
