Traffic-calming work to get under way in Leicester

  • Published

Work is to begin on a traffic-calming scheme in Leicester next week.

The scheme, involving Netherhall Road and Ivychurch Crescent, is expected to last seven weeks.

Rubber road cushions will be installed to slow down traffic and there will be a 20mph zone on Keyham Lane West outside Hamilton Community College.

Cabinet member for transport Councillor Abdul Osman said the project was aiming to reduce accidents and make school pedestrian access easier.

He said: "This work is something which residents in the area have been calling for, and which will really help improve safety around the schools, so I am very pleased that the work is going ahead."

The scheme is costing £175,000 and is government funded.

Local diversions will be implemented while the work is being carried out.
